"The Family"

A recently completed piece, it represents the artist and his wife, symbolised by the large leaves and seed pods, and their two children, symbolised by the flowers - one in full bloom from which a baby is emerging, the other closed and a mystery.

The Blue Orchid, on display at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha, Queensland.

Exhibition of Antone's work at Songbirds Rainforest Sculpture Garden continues for another few months...

Antone is exhibiting 24 sculptures at the beautiful Songbirds Rainforest Retreat and Sculpture Garden at Mount Tamborine. The exhibition was opened by Mr Brett Raguse on 28 November 2009 and will continue until the end of 2010. If you go there from Wednesday to Sunday, you may like to book in for a wonderful meal at their award-winning restaurant, before having a stroll through their spacious grounds to see the sculptures. It is an amazing place and the sculptures really show you how they can set off a garden or entry area. If you want to make a statement with your garden or home, a large sculpture made with beautiful natural materials is sure to give impact. Antone assists with installation and provides advice on moving the sculpture in the future if you should re-locate, as well as giving you simple care instructions (very low maintenance).

Here are a few of the sculptures on show at Songbirds:

The Rhythm of Love has found a home at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha

Look for The Rhythm of Love in the Rose Garden, near the Observatory, at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, Toowong, Brisbane, Queensland. We think it looks fantastic there.

Just a reminder not to walk on the garden - apparently a lot of visitors can't resist getting up close to the sculpture to touch it.

For the next few months, Antone has another sculpture on display in the gardens. It is a blue orchid sculpture - just look for the bright blue "stone" flower peeping out from a garden bed near the lake (below the kiosk). The photos were taken just after rain so the sculpture is damp in spots and is graced with fallen autumn leaves.

Penetration of the Wind re-located to Shanghai Sculpture Park

Antone's Sculpture, Penetration of the Wind, completed at a sculpture symposium in Guilin, China in 1998 was recently relocated to the Shanghai Sculpture Park (SSP), a newly developed sculpture park, which has been open to the public since May, 2005.

The park is surrounded by the Sheshan Mountains and encircling the Yue Hu Moon Lake, with more than 50 large scale sculptures set sensitively in 214 acres of magical surroundings. Yu Hu Museum of Art in the park is one of the best contemporary art museums in Shanghai.  Varied and changing exhibitions are organised there throughout the year. With the World Expo scheduled for 2010 in Shanghai, the SSP is sure to be a popular attraction for art lovers from around the world.

Sculpture Park seeks to establish an international reputation in the field of contemporary sculpture, through acquisition and exhibition of Sculpture.  The sculpture park is developing a collection of contemporary sculpture in conjunction with the Yu Hue Museum of Art, and providing an education service to the local community fostering a deeper understanding of the art of Sculpture in a contemporary setting.

Since 1997, more than 200 large sculptures have been created both in Guilin and Shanghai.  Some sculptures in Guilin, including Antone's sculpture, Penetration of the Wind, have been moved to SSP for a better display.

The Elements are Moving to a New Home - The Evandale Sculpture Walk, Gold Coast Arts Centre

In 1992-93, Antone created a four-piece sculptural installation at Main Beach, Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Australia. He was supported by local residents and overseas visitors, who helped to polish the sculptures or come back regularly to view the progress of the works. In 2004, readers of the Gold Coast Bulletin voted The Elements the most popular public art on the Gold Coast. These sculptures have been photographed by tens of thousands of visitors to the Gold Coast over the sixteen years that they have been in place. They are now being moved to make way for the Soul building development. We hope that the "Soul" development will arrange for equally popular pieces of public art near or at the development site. You will still be able to see The Elements at the Gold Coast Arts Centre, visible from Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise.
